My condolences. His contributions to this country will live forever!
ReplyDeleteYour family will be in our prayers tonight. Meanwhile, the last verses of Romans 8.
ReplyDeleteMuch love and condolences to you. Revelation 7:13-17 comes to mind. It's a far-off hope, but a great hope nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this. Prayers for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI am lifting all of you up in prayer.
ReplyDeleteOut of the depths I call to you, LORD;
ReplyDeleteLord, hear my cry!
May your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
If you, LORD, keep account of sins,
Lord, who can stand?
But with you is forgiveness
and so you are revered.
I wait for the LORD,
my soul waits
and I hope for his word.
My soul looks for the Lord
more than sentinels for daybreak.
More than sentinels for daybreak,
let Israel hope in the LORD,
For with the LORD is mercy,
with him is plenteous redemption,
And he will redeem Israel from all its sins.
All seconded... May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, find pardon and peace.
ReplyDeleteDying on the eve of Epiphany -- that seems like a blessed time to go. And it's St. John Neumann's day, so there's a local-ish connection. (The man went everywhere in Ohio and Pennsylvania.)
And who laid the cornerstone for the parish that we attended for most of our family's sojourn.
DeleteMy condolences, TOF. May eternal light shine on your pere.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences as well. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

ReplyDeletePrayers and condolences for your loss.
ReplyDeleteDeath, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
-- John Donne
