ReplyDeleteTOF - I am curious how you would make the case - Ptolemaic Smackdown style, perhaps - that Western Civilization is in decline. And what, if anything, can be done to save it.
ReplyDeleteI don't doubt the idea, but it is hard for me to even begin to make the argument. I'm not nearly well-read enough. (Though Lukacs is still fixed on my reading list).
Depends on how you define "Western Civilization," I suppose. Some include ancient Greece and Rome, even though their civilization was markedly different from that of medieval Europe and from Modern Europe.
