Dear Michael Flynn:
ReplyDeleteI'm posting here for a couple of reasons -- no comments here yet; and the post has a tangential connection with my comment.
First, fourteen years after you wrote FALLING STARS, I finished it a few minutes ago. I just want you to know that I wept when Jimmy and Chase died.
I was also thrilled to see where the name of the star of WRECK OF THE RIVER OF STARS came from...
Most of all, I wanted to tell you that your writing has driven deep into my soul. It never fails to baffle, entertain, evoke, and invoke SOMETHING in me.
I don't know any higher compliment that I can pay a writer.
If you ever end up at one of the Minnesota SF conventions, you WILL be meeting me! If you request a panel discussion on education, I'll make sure I volunteer (I've been an elementary, middle school, and high school science teacher for 30+ years. I can honestly say that I've taught all of the sciences from Astronomy to Zoology at some time or another.) and then I'll buy you a drink (of whatever it is you're drinking...)
Thank you for writing.
Deeply, Sincerely,
Guy Stewart
I am humbled.
