Apparently, Russians are getting a laugh out of the whole thing.
"Nightmare of Obama"
Caption was: "Come on Lyudmilla! Hack those Yanks!"
You know, if you interpret Roman Empire to include the Holy Roman Empire, you could probably make a case for Picture 1. The Russians did do a bit of fighting in WW1, after all, and said Russians presumably did some hacking (as in Picture 4).
Hapsburgs ruling the Austro-Hungarian empire were arguably good enough successors and closely enough allied to the Church to count as Roman. Certainly they are frequently alluded to as such.
Still a bit of a stretch, I know, but I thought it worked for the joke. Oh well.
